The bridge of your nose is exquisite
it’s place on your face deliberate to make us all envious
of the sculptural shadows cast on your cheek
as the sun falls then rises by your guide
eager to please

Since my last post I’d been going back and forth on what to write about next. When WordPress.com started the monthly #WordPrompt challenge with the word ‘bridge’, I sat down to write. I felt quite stuck at first and ended up just drawing a literal bridge used for crossing. Then I described the types of bridges we use. And then I started thinking of some of the ways we use the idea of a bridge in how we relate to people. I was thinking literally and I was thinking too much. But still, just scribbling away and sketching, going through those steps helped get the clutter out of the way and got me to ‘The bridge of your nose’ idea above. And it got words on the page.
